14th August 2023 Monday - Melbourne (day 3) seeing Marc

Our final day at the hotel, today we move to Tim's place at Parkville - I woke early to work and Sam joined me for a long lazy breakfast with breaks to get 'gifts' for EH. Sam and I devised a gift for him which comprises 2 of everything free that we encounter during our trip, and it must be from Australia. To date, we have honey, jams, tomato sauce, and Vegemite packets.

Today is Monday and we arranged to see Dicko at his office, it was still early so we tram-ed to the Docklands and wandered around aimlessly until it was time to walk to his office. His office looked remarkably familiar; the red brick wall, the heavy steel trusses and the familiar figure of Kevin Hui. Kevin was very hospitable, he made us coffee and chatted about study trips and teaching architecture.

This is my favourite this morning - small but well articulated, well proportioned despite being dwarfed by its neighbours

Amanda Levete's pavillion at the Docklands

Marc's at the Archimarathon offices

Marc (Dicko), beef and stout pie, croquettes, proper chips and pints of milk stout (Stomping Ground)

Tim preparing dinner for us - cappers, anchovies and olives with a touch of lemon juice as the dressing

The front room where Tim's mom used to spend her time, and where Tim spends his time working on his projects.

The front windows overlook a park beyond which there is a playground, and train tracks, tram stations and the Melbourne Zoo.
