A quiet affair for us, as Pam was in Miri, Khoon is in Dunedin and the Liews have driven up to Lachau for a Hakka reunion. This meant that mom is staying over at our place. She has been happily eating, chatting and napping the whole day and when the evening fireworks started, asked if it was the New Year. We told indeed it was, and she trotted off to bed. None of the theatrics which Ni experiences regularly - I think mom picks who to bully and create a drama with.
This also meant that I had to accompany mom downstairs in case she woke up in the middle of the night. I had a sleepless night not helped by the fireworks. The dogs had a sleepless night as well, Sean had to accompany Ellie in the kitchen - the old girl worries and frets in the commotion.
