I see more of my colleagues than my own family, especially my sister, brother, nieces. Our extended family includes interns from my former practice; Design Network Architects - some of whom drop by - Michael who works at the Public Works Dept as does Florence Yeo. Sean Chew drops by from Singapore with Shella, and invites us to visit next week when we are in Singapore. Our architect friends from other firms visit as well, and Hwong does drop by with Grace and Michelle. I feel that it is important for our office folks to see this, how relationship are formed and maintained, how to be generous and inclusive and how to let everyone have their space and their say. There is no need to play host in a traditionally sense, there is no need to speak to each. They are busy speaking to other people who they want to talk to, it does not have to be us. We are simply facilitating them with an occasion to go to, a place to meet and to catch up with friends.
