The Fata Hotel is one of the earliest hotel in Kuching

As I was growing up, this was my 'neck of the wood' - my school was next to the hotel but back then, I did not appreciate the hotel's clever planning and form; how the guest room modules step back progressively to negotiate the turn in the road and the way the upper floors are distinguished from the commercial ground floor with a deep recess in the facade.
